Association meme from [livejournal.com profile] hammil77

Ask me to associate you with five things. When I do this, post this meme and an explanation of your interest in those five things in your journal.

My five from [livejournal.com profile] hammil77 were:

1. Gay cinema: I think it all started with Get Real. I saw that movie before I had an inkling what slash was or anything like that, so after some research online, I started sort of putting together a list of GTMs to see, getting recommendations from my flist, [livejournal.com profile] madame_d and [livejournal.com profile] matan4il were especially helpful in creating/adding to my original list. :) I've lost count, but I've easily seen over 200 and have many more to go.

2. fiction: I haven't had as much time recently to read/write as much as I'd like to, but I'm trying! Fanfic was one of the first things that drew me to LJ, there was so much wonderful fic out there, and LJ was the easiest way to find it. I really enjoy writing, and even though I've only been actively involved in a handful of fandoms, I've met some wonderful people through fiction. *looks pointedly at flist*

3. Viggorli: I've really only had two great fandom loves in my life. ;) The first was Savage Garden, and the second was Viggorli. I'd managed to avoid the whole LOTRs thing completely until [livejournal.com profile] madame_d sent me a link with viggorli pictures in it. By that weekend, I'd seen all three movies (RoTK was in theaters at the time) and was reading as much fic as I could get my hands on.

4. John Barrowman: This links in with #1. I saw De-Lovely, and was completely blown away by his rendition of "Night & Day", found out his name, and filed it away for future use. When my flist started buzzing about Doctor Who, I didn't really think much of it until John's name came up in connection with it. So that's actually why I started watching the show. I probably, sadly, wouldn't have given it another thought if John hadn't been in it.

5. Winter: Winter is my absolute favorite time of year, which is odd because I'm always freezing to death. There's the obvious, Christmas and the holidays and just all around good stuff in winter, but I think living where it never snows and people have been known to wear shorts on Christmas Day, the whole postcard image of winter is sort of magical.

Snagged from [livejournal.com profile] dreamerren.

Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing. (Downgrading to 30 because 50 is too many.)
Step 3: Strike through the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly (I'll give it to whomever gets it first)
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like the game post your own!

Even though I'm still computerless, I was tagged by [livejournal.com profile] matan4il, and I've never been able to tell her no. :P

Guilt
What is yours?
Explain yourself
Culinary: cheesecake Does this really need an explanation? Is there anything better than cheesecake in the whole world. I vote no.
Literary: young adult novels Remember those books you read in junior high? I love those, even if they're not the best written work out there. They make me nostalgic.
Audiovisual: soaps I think it's all the melodrama and hot guys, but it's fun. And I love watching Y&R with my mom and then talking about it. Like I said, it's fun, and not at all serious.
Musical: Barry Manilow Okay, I'm not sure I can explain this one, but there's just something about Barry Manilow, that I can not be depressed when I listen to him. Maybe it's the corniness of it all, or the fact that I really love 'Mandy', but something about him makes me smile. And I dare you not to sing along to 'Copacabana'.
Celebrity: Eyal Podell *sigh* He's gorgeous. I'm trying to find someone to slash him with, and it's just not working for me. I've slashed harder people though, I'm not giving up.

Now I tag:-

[livejournal.com profile] dreamerren [livejournal.com profile] marylou_gr, and anyone else who wants to do it

5 guilty pleasures:
1. Being online reading fic when I should be working on an assignment.
2. Ben & Jerry's - any flavor, I'm still exploring them all. ;)
3. General Hospital *happily jumps on the Sonny/Emily bandwagon*
4. Cheesey songs from the 80s, I mean the really horrible stuff. *veg*
5. A GTM weekend when I have absolutely nothing to do (only made better by including #2).

I think I'm probably the last person on LJ to do this meme, but if you haven't done it yet, consider yourself tagged. :)

I love Bradley Cooper even more than I did when he was on 'Alias.' Kitchen Confidential is hilarious. The whole scene with Greg the fish was brilliant. :)

The movie Partners with Jay Harrington and Michael Ian Black is darling. Jay is a lawyer who pretends to be gay to land a promotion, and MIB is his best friend who really is gay, and pretends to be his boyfriend. Much giggling, and it's just cute. Keep an eye on Lifetime, as they'll probably be repeating it.

And the meme cause everyone else did it, and I'm nothing if not a lemming. :P

LJ Interests meme results

  1. aragorn/legolas:
I was actually a Viggorli fan before Aragorn/Legolas, but it just seems to go with the territory. :)
  2. ewan/hayden:
Seriously, it makes watching Star Wars 100% more fun. And I *like* Star Wars. Plus, they're gorgeous, and they can be gorgeous together, which is even better. :)
  3. hayden christensen:
I actually first became a Hayden fan when I watched Higher Ground, so I was one of the people going, "OMG! Hayden's going to be Anakin Skywalker," not, "Hayden who?" And let's face it, he's just pretty.
  4. jerome pradon:
Where do I start? Jerome played Judas Iscariot in the 2000 production of "Jesus Christ Superstar", which I love beyond belief. He may not have the *best* voice, but he's so intense that you don't really notice.
  5. legolas:
He's a pretty blond elf. What's not to like? *veg*
  6. mash:
MASH is one of my favorite shows. I could watch every episode a million times and never get tired of it. The writing is brilliant (particularly in the later episodes), and even though it's a comedy, you never forget that there's a more serious message below the surface.
  7. my beautiful laundrette:
Amazing movie. Daniel Day Lewis and Gordon Warnecke are wonderful. The films not so much about them being gay as it is about two guys who just happen to be gay. And when DDL says, "I can't leave him. Not now," I melt. And the licking, cause, um...yeah. *sheepish grin*
  8. rps:
All of my favorite fandoms are RPS. I don't really know why, but there's just something about RPS that draws me in, whereas FPS doesn't.
  9. sirius/remus:
    It's practically canon!
  10. the oc slash:
More so in season 1. Any combination of Ryan/Seth/Luke/Zach is great, but Ryan/Seth is my OTP. Just as long as it doesn't involve Sandy because he and Kirsten are The Perfect Couple. :)

I'm trying very hard to ignore the fact that classes start Tuesday and my financial aid is more screwed up than it's ever been (even that time they had 150 juniors listed as freshmen).

Go here and put your birth year into the search thingy. The first link is likely the top 100 songs of that year. Cut and paste that list here. Bold the ones you actually like. Understand that the word "like" in this case means, in the very least, "wouldn't immediately change the radio station from. " Pick a favorite. Underline that favorite.

Top 100 songs of 1983 )

I feel old. And nostalgic. :) Does anyone remember the show Today's Special? I nearly drove my mom insane last week talking about old cartoons and tv shows I used to watch when I was a kid. The Care Bears, Rainbow Brite, and Jem aren't hard to remember, but what about The Snorks, The Lost City of Gold, or David the Gnome? *happy sigh*

I haven't updated in forever. I've been sick, but have been told by [livejournal.com profile] madame_d that it couldn't be worse than Ebola or the plague, so I guess I'm okay. :P I've just been curled up watching old episodes of WKRP in Cincinnati. *happy sigh*

I survived the series finale of QAF with a limited amount of tears (meaning I only cried the last 15 minutes). I rather liked "Weeds". I love Mary Louise Parker. :)

From nearly half my flist, but most recently from [livejournal.com profile] nurseowens

Ask me something you'd like to know about me! Can be a personal question, random questions, silly questions... you name it! I honestly don't think I've got anything to hide! I'm very honest and open and willing to share everything. So feel free to ask something if you want to.

And maybe you can do the same in your journal so I get to ask you something too together with the others on your flist. :)

*pokes* Come on you guys, I don't bite...unless you want me to. *veg*

List your current six favorite songs, then pick six other people that could do the same.

1. Why Do You Have To Be So Hard To Love? - Bryan Adams
2. Popular - Darren Hayes
3. Incomplete - Backstreet Boys
4. Canyon Prayer - Jesse Alexander
5. Strange Way - Honestly
6. How Little We Know - Linda Eder

Since I'm always the last to do this sort of thing, anyone who hasn't, feel free to grab. I know some people have been uploading their song choices, but I don't have time to do that. If anyone wants one, though, just let me know.

I shouldn't be allowed to listen to music and write at the same time because strange things like this happen:

I can't help it. The Viggo/Bryan Adams bunny has bitten. It's messing with my head, not to mention my OTP, and randomly flipping through the channels and seeing BA, not once, but twice in a couple of days, isn't helping. *bangs head on desk* Go away you evil, evil plot bunny!

Things you enjoy, even when no one around you wants to go out and play.
What lowers your stress/blood pressure/anxiety level? Make a list, post
it to your journal... and then tag 5 friends and ask them to post it to
theirs.

1. watching movies
2. writing/reading
3. cooking
4. logic puzzles
5. being outside by myself
6. listening to music
7. my pets
8. driving by myself and singing as loudly as possible with the radio. ;)
9. cleaning (I know, but it gives me purpose)

I think nearly everyone has done this one, but if you haven't go for it.

*blinks* I have a really bad headache. Think I'm just going to curl up with Velvet Goldmine, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, and The Rocky Horror Picture Show until I feel better.

From [livejournal.com profile] helethmiel:

Happy soul
Your soul is happy.
You live life like its all a fun game. You
don't like to take things seriously which is
both good and bad. Due to your fun loving
nature you don't like steady boyfriends that
much. They come and go, and you simply aren't
ready for your true love to come just yet.
Generally you are a good friend who can cheer
up those in need of it and are fun to hang out
with. You hate feeling sad yourself and avoid
it the best you can. Parties and social
gatherings are your things, whether it be in
small or large groups of people. It is no
surprise that you are well-liked among your
peers.

How is your soul?(pics)

From [livejournal.com profile] nurseowens:

You scored as Mermaid. Mermaid: Mermaids are also known as Sirens. These creatures were beautiful women who tricked sailors into becoming completely entranced by their haunting voices and found death soon after. Not all stories of Mermaids are about gentle loving sea people. They are mystical, magical, and extremely dangerous. They have a way about them that brings anyone they are around to seem enchanted. They are very mysterious creatures and to meet one... Would mean certain Death. Let the song of the Sea fill your soul, for you are a Mermaid.

From everyone, but most recently [livejournal.com profile] dollface_uk:

Take this list and post it into your own LJ, and mark the movies you've seen. Add five more movies to the end of the list.

Count how many X'es you have. If you've seen more than 70 movies, you are a ~*~ Movie Whore ~*~. Post the score of how many movies you've seen in the subject line.

Use a LJ-cut since you've got at least one LJ-friend who doesn't really want to see an ungodly number of movies snaking its way down the computer monitor. (Right now, the list is at about 380 movies)

Because [livejournal.com profile] marylou_gr asked, and I can't say no to her. :)

1.Total number of books I own:
Um...probably around 500, but most are in storage. I just don't have the room.

2.The last book I bought:
It was a manga. Gravitation vol. 11

3.The last book I read:
Mourning a Father Lost by Avraham Balaban.

4.Five books that mean a lot to me:

1. Say Goodnight, Gracie by Julie Reece Deever (It's my favorite book ever.)
2. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
3. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by JK Rowling
4. Kay Scarpetta series by Patricia Cornwell (I refuse to pick just one.)
5. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams (Okay, it's a play. So?)

5. Five people I pick to do this (if they wish to):
I think everyone has pretty much done it, but if you haven't and you want to, go for it.

First, Happy Mother's Day to the moms on my flist! *hugs* I hope you all have a great day. :)

Second, when I try to view my flist I get either 1) a syntax error message or 2) about half the page and then some html gibberish. Anyone else having problems?

And, last, the meme from everyone:

The Keys to Your Heart

You are attracted to those who are unbridled, untrammeled, and free.

In love, you feel the most alive when your lover is creative and never lets you feel bored.

You'd like for your lover to think you are stylish and alluring.

You would be forced to break up with someone who was emotional, moody, and difficult to please.

Your ideal relationship is open. Both of you can talk about everything... no secrets.

Your risk of cheating is zero. You care about society and morality. You would never break a commitment.

You think of marriage as something that will confine you. You are afraid of marriage.

In this moment, you think of love as something you can get or discard anytime. You're feeling self centered.

I'm kinda surprised by how accurate it is, though I think I can give up 'stylish' and 'alluring'. *snorts*
