Association meme from

Ask me to associate you with five things. When I do this, post this meme and an explanation of your interest in those five things in your journal.
My five from
hammil77 were:
1. Gay cinema: I think it all started with Get Real. I saw that movie before I had an inkling what slash was or anything like that, so after some research online, I started sort of putting together a list of GTMs to see, getting recommendations from my flist,
madame_d and
matan4il were especially helpful in creating/adding to my original list. :) I've lost count, but I've easily seen over 200 and have many more to go.
2. fiction: I haven't had as much time recently to read/write as much as I'd like to, but I'm trying! Fanfic was one of the first things that drew me to LJ, there was so much wonderful fic out there, and LJ was the easiest way to find it. I really enjoy writing, and even though I've only been actively involved in a handful of fandoms, I've met some wonderful people through fiction. *looks pointedly at flist*
3. Viggorli: I've really only had two great fandom loves in my life. ;) The first was Savage Garden, and the second was Viggorli. I'd managed to avoid the whole LOTRs thing completely until
madame_d sent me a link with viggorli pictures in it. By that weekend, I'd seen all three movies (RoTK was in theaters at the time) and was reading as much fic as I could get my hands on.
4. John Barrowman: This links in with #1. I saw De-Lovely, and was completely blown away by his rendition of "Night & Day", found out his name, and filed it away for future use. When my flist started buzzing about Doctor Who, I didn't really think much of it until John's name came up in connection with it. So that's actually why I started watching the show. I probably, sadly, wouldn't have given it another thought if John hadn't been in it.
5. Winter: Winter is my absolute favorite time of year, which is odd because I'm always freezing to death. There's the obvious, Christmas and the holidays and just all around good stuff in winter, but I think living where it never snows and people have been known to wear shorts on Christmas Day, the whole postcard image of winter is sort of magical.
