The things you can discover while wandering aimlessly around imdb

Hee! Okay, so I was looking something up on imdb, and I stumbled across this.

There's been a script for The Dreyfus Affair floating around practically since the book was written, even Ben Affleck has expressed interest in it (which I don't think would work at *all*), but this is the first indication that someone actually intends to make a movie out of it. I really hope they do because this is a great story. Maybe the success of Brokeback Mountain finally convinced Hollywood that there is a demand for gay-themed movies. *frowns* It's going to be called the 'gay baseball player movie' isn't it?

Summary from imdb:
The seriocomic story of the handsome and spectacularly talented Randy Dreyfus who, at the age of twenty-eight, has a multimillion dollar contract playing shortstop for the Los Angeles Valley Vikings. Married to his college sweetheart, a former Miss California, with whom he has perfect twin daughters and a sprawling home in the suburbs, Dreyfus embodies the American Dream. But during the Vikings' tight race for the pennant, Randy is shocked to discover that he's attracted to - and then falls in love with - his second baseman. When their affair becomes public, Dreyfus' picture-perfect life comes crashing down around him as the resulting scandal rocks the world of organized baseball and quickly becomes the biggest story in the nation, all during one unforgettable World Series championship.

Oh huh. So they ARE doing it. Too bad the love interest is African-American, or else it could've been the movie where Ben and Matt FINALLY SNOG. ;) But yeah, Ben is all wrong for it. Think Kevin Costner would try to make it his umpteenth baseball flick? ;)

Did you see Costner when he was on Leno with the QE guys? He was *so* uncomfortable. I think we're safe. ;) Honestly, I've been thinking about casting, and no one really comes to mind.
