So I took advantage of the long weekend to just stay in (since I'm sick) and catch up on some movies.

1)I finally saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. :) I've never actually seen the original *ducks flying objects*, but I loved this version. I mean...it's Johnny Depp! My brother liked it, too, and my mom thinks we're insane. Okay, she thought that *before* we saw the movie, so...*shrugs*

2)Why didn't I know that Cole Porter was gay? Also saw De-Lovely, which is really a beautiful film. Loved the music and Kevin Kline.

3)I wasn't sure what to expect with Strange Bedfellows, but it turned out to be pretty funny. Not the best movie I've ever seen, and some parts bordered on offensive, but overall I thought the message was good. Seeing Paul Hogan in those shorts, though, that might have scarred me for life. ;)

4)I've seen nearly every episode of QAF US (I missed a couple at the beginning of season 2), but I finally got to see QAF UK. *hugs [livejournal.com profile] madame_d until she turns blue*

A. I didn't like the ending of either one. Maybe I just don't like things to be up in the air, although, I guess for fic purposes, it's great.

B. It took me a long time to fully embrace Brian/Justin. Justin annoyed the heck out of me in season 1, but grew on me. Brian, I loved from the beginning, but he slowly began to drive me insane. By the end, I loved both of them *together*. So I guess I might have been expecting more from the Stuart/Nathan relationship than I got.

C. I really did like the UK version, but it's difficult to watch and not compare, and I'm clearly biased toward the US version. And some of the things that are probably funny in the UK version, I didn't get because they're British cultural references. Like all the Dr. Who stuff (which I only know about from watching Get Real) must make more sense if you know what it's about and all the different actors who have played the character.

And, for the record, I think the UK version has a better soundtrack.

There are things I like and dislike in both versions, and I guess I'm just curious to hear other opinions on it. So US or UK? Why? And what about pairings?

And, theoretically, if one were looking for cross-over fics, where might I look they look? ;) Particularly any combination of Brian/Justin/Stuart/Nathan

And last, slash in unexpected places:

5)I got the Bryan Adams Anthology, and on the DVD Bry's running around on stage with a camera, introducing the band. He introduces Keith last, "You know him, you love him, take him home with you - Keith Scott!" He scans down Keith with the camera, grinning and ending on a crotch shot. Then as the group takes their bow, Keith and Bryan are whispering to each other and laughing. I've been slashing them for *years* without material this good.
